Tricking my girlfriend
I wonder how long it will take Lucia to realize that I switched hbogo to the first episode of Game of Thrones instead of Sex and the City
Is my marginal utility of an additional econ class greater than my marginal utility of a poli sci minor? (Did I just answer my own question?)
All those poli sci classes on my transcript would be pretty useless though (except Russian and Chinese politics - I used those for requirements). So I guess that puts 3 poli sci classes to “waste”. But then again weren’t those two history classes and JLS also a “waste”? Hell, maybe even philosophy was a “waste”. I could have minored in stat! But does it really matter? I still learned a lot from all of those “wasted” classes, and I think an education is what you make of it - not necessarily what’s on your diploma. So maybe the real question is: is my marginal utility of an additional econ class greater than my marginal utility of a poli sci class? The answer to this is obviously yes. This might make next year slightly different…
Practicing for a case interview for tomorrow…. What’s wrong with 0 profit? Isn’t opportunity cost already worked in?
2012 saw so many great new artists, albums and songs. Song like Bottom of the River by Delta Rae, Tell Me A Tale by Michael Kiwanuka, and Default by Django Django (and of course Gold On The Ceiling by The Black Keys!). Great albums like Be The Void by Dr. Dog, My Head Is An Animal by Of Monsters and Men, Port of Morrow by the Shins, Babel by Mumford & Sons, Some Nights by Fun., and The Carpenter by the Avett Brothers. But my favorite of 2012 has been the debut of The Lumineers. I’m so lucky I was able to see them right before they became huge and their song Ho Hey became so popular.
To everyone saying music isn’t good anymore - you’re wrong. You’re just not listening to the right stuff. There’s plenty of good music still being made, both indie and mainstream.
“Brace yourselves…” Such an awesome Hanukkah gift from my wonderful girlfriend. I can’t wait for winter to actually come though so I can take a much needed month off.
Math
The double major in math was a good idea. Proving stuff is hard, but I like the way it makes my brain work. I think my friend (a CS major) was right when he told me that these classes pay off in the end even though we hate them while we’re in them. I just wish mathematical reasoning had more readily available applications to undergraduate economics… I guess I have to wait until graduate school.
